A new chapter for Do Good Jobs

August marks a new chapter for Do Good Jobs, with new owners David Morrison and Corey Jarrett taking over from founder Julia Capon. Find out more about Julia’s decision to move on from Do Good Jobs here.

After a short handover, David and Corey are now fully on board, so we thought now was a great time to let you know a little bit more about them and what’s in the store for Do Good Jobs.

Introducing David and Corey

David and Corey work together at Thankyou Payroll, a social enterprise that blends business success with doing good in the world - David as CEO and Corey as Head of Operations.

Prior to joining Thankyou Payroll, David spent seven years at InternetNZ in a variety of roles and a number of years in IT in consulting, project management, and account management roles.

Corey has worked in the social enterprise sector for more than seven years including at the Ākina Foundation, an organisation focused on the growth of impact-focused businesses in New Zealand -  and before that owned several businesses of his own.

During their time at Thankyou Payroll, discovering they worked well together and had some great complementary skills, David and Corey began looking for a business investment. Some fortuitous timing led them to a connection with Julia, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Neither wanted a passive investment, looking instead for a business where they could make a difference - both within the business and with the business in the for-purpose sector. Do Good Jobs offers the perfect opportunity.

What’s next for Do Good Jobs?

To begin with, it’s about learning the business for David and Corey - finding out what works for employers and jobseekers and how Do Good Jobs can support their needs. In the short term, it’s pretty much business as usual, although you may have already noticed a few tweaks to the website and the business processes.

Longer-term David and Corey are keen to grow Do Good Jobs both as a business and in terms of the impact it can have in the for-purpose sector.

“The impact economy is growing and evolving with more and more businesses thinking about their impact and more good jobs coming with this. We firmly believe that Do Good Jobs has the potential to be a more significant player in the job listing market. We are looking forward to being a bigger part of the for-purpose sector and helping for-purpose organisations to amplify their impact”.
