Introducing For Impact Coach - my next passion project
Last week on the blog, I announced that after 12 years, I was passing on Do Good Jobs to some fantastic new owners. If you missed the original announcement, you can check it out here.
This week I wanted to write a little more about my next steps and how you can join me as I embark on a new journey to help for-purpose people thrive.
My journey to here….
Before I talk about the future, I wanted to share a bit about my journey to this point. Way back in 2011, I started Do Good Jobs as a side-line passion project with zero budget. My goal was clear: to create a job board for ethical mahi in Aotearoa, linking purpose-driven individuals with vacancies at do-good organisations.
For the first 7 years, I ran Do Good Jobs as a team of one.
I was the founder and all-rounder, alongside doing other paid work in various roles at charities and social enterprises. During this time, I also become a Mum. I jumped straight back into running Do Good Jobs after just six weeks of maternity leave, filling each precious nap time and evening with admin work to keep everything humming. I was sleep deprived, running on fumes, with very little income and what started to become really clear was that I didn’t have a clear direction for what was next for Do Good Jobs.
A transformative holiday
While on “holiday” visiting family in the UK, I found myself squeezing in work to keep up with all the emails, consumed by never-ending tasks, writing newsletters and more. I also stumbled upon some game-changing personal development that really opened my eyes. I realised I was trapped in the day-to-day “busyness”, working in Do Good Jobs instead of taking the time to work on it. This was stopping me from creating the bigger picture and stepping into a leadership role.
After this holiday, I made a conscious decision to move away from this way of working. I knew that if Do Good Jobs was to grow and thrive, it was me that needed to change.
Since then, I've got real clarity on my vision and goals, hired a great team to support this mahi, and given the heave-ho to lots of unhelpful stories in my head that had been holding me and Do Good Jobs back – particularly around money and time. I invested eye-watering amounts into my own personal and professional development (it's said when you pay, you pay attention –and that has definitely been true for me!). All this provided a massive shortcut to the growth that Do Good Jobs and I have experienced in the past few years.
My five-year learning journey has also been life-changing. I want to share the knowledge I've gained to specifically support those in the for-purpose world to learn the mindset and methods to achieve your goals and maximise the impact on your cause – and do it all faster and easier.
Throughout the last few years, I have been stepping up to share my learnings. You may have noticed my For Impact series of workshops around delegation, vision, focus, planning and recruitment. I’ve also increasingly been working 1:1 as a coach to empower for-purpose leaders and their causes to thrive with my Head, Heart, Hand framework.
This work fires me up, and I am eager to dive deeper into this transformative space. That’s what led me to the decision to hand Do Good Jobs and its job platform over to someone who can take it to the next level while I take myself toward a new focus – but still with for-purpose people at the heart!
So, what's next for me?
From August, I will be taking a looong overdue break, then embarking on more 1:1 coaching and future courses under my new venture - For Impact Coach.
The name pulls from the For Impact series of workshops I have run over the past three years and feels like a natural fit for me going forward. While I am not yet 100% certain what the For Impact Coach will look like, you can expect to receive updates through my blogs and emails via Do Good Jobs in the coming year.
Let's stay connected!
If you'd like to stay connected after I leave Do Good Jobs and be the first to hear about these exciting developments, sign up for my mailing list or even book a coaching clarity call with me if you are ready to take a bold step forward in your own self-development and leadership to accelerate your impact.
I'm deeply grateful for the learnings that brought me here, and I can't wait to see what the future brings!
