Full-Time Waste Minimisation Ofﬁcer
We are looking for a Waste Minimisation Ofﬁcer who can inspire and embed long-term behaviour change within our community and our organisation.

Our team has been raising the proﬁle of environmental issues and the importance of living and acting more sustainably.
Council needs to maintain its presence in the community and to implement Upper Hutt’s local actions from the Wellington Region Waste Minimisation and Management Plan. Council needs to develop strong community networks by building collaborative relationships with community groups and other organisations working on waste minimisation and community resilience initiatives. You will be supporting schools and community groups wishing to explore the effects of waste and waste reduction opportunities. Working with Council staff, schools, community groups and other organisations on a day-to-day basis. You will be part of a small and dedicated team who are also responsible for implementing the waste minimisation projects, and there will be an opportunity for you to input into a review to ensure Council is focussing on the right issues.
Key responsibilities in this broad role include:
* Building strong community networks and relationships to build resiliency and improve outcomes for the community and the organisation
* To deliver projects and educate people about waste minimisation and sustainable living.
* Providing policy advice
* Developing and deliver educational material to promote waste minimisation.
* Project management and ensuring projects are achieved within set time frames and budgets.
* Providing advice on the development of policy and strategy, as required.
