Voluntary Voluntary Member Migration Advisory Group
New Zealand Red Cross is seeking new members for its Migration Advisory Group.
New Zealand Red Cross is a member National Society of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), which is the world’s largest humanitarian organization. Red Cross plays a vital role in aiding vulnerable people in New Zealand and overseas whose lives have become vulnerable through conflict, disaster or circumstance.
As the lead agency for the community refugee settlement programme, Red Cross supports 1,000 quota refugees annually to settle in New Zealand through our Pathways to Settlement programme and supports about 800 people with refugee backgrounds each year with their training and employment journey through the Pathways to Employment programme.
The Red Cross Migration Advisory Group provides essential insight, guidance and advice to both migration programme staff and the National Board. The voice of people who have experienced a refugee journey and settlement experiences in New Zealand is essential to guiding the delivery of our migration programmes.
Membership of the Advisory Group is voluntary, however all transport costs are paid. If selected, you will be part of a group with members from around New Zealand and will be consulting all Red Cross refugee resettlement activities. We are looking for people who have personal experience of the refugee journey and comprehensive knowledge of current settlement processes and the New Zealand settlement context.
