Full-Time Social Worker/Keyworker
Social Workers / Key Workers
Together we can end homelessness
We need experienced, qualified kaimahi to join our team across a range of pay scales. You will be willing to roll your sleeves up and do whatever tasks are required to support people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. You will work with them to access and sustain housing and to journey to greater wellbeing.
You will have a relevant qualification in social work or drug and alcohol studies, great rapport building skills, be non-judgmental, highly organised and a good team player. A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Māori is absolutely essential; proven relevant experience would be an advantage.
New funding opportunities mean that we are looking for a number of kaimahi to join our team, including at a senior practitioner level. Some roles will be based at DCM and one team member will be part of a new collaboration with the Wellington City Mission and will work from their base in Newtown to connect with people who are experiencing homelessness.
For fifty years, Downtown Community Ministry (DCM) has worked on some of the biggest problems facing Wellington city, supporting the most marginalised people in our city to break the cycle of homelessness, and to find recovery, wholeness and reconnection with their cultural roots and whānau. We have a proven track record of assisting people to put their lives back together. Large numbers come to us for support because we work in ways that enhance their mana and make them feel genuinely welcome.
If you are interested in social change and in making a difference at the tough end of the spectrum, tell us about yourself through your covering letter.
Position available: From 1 February 2019
Location: Central Wellington
