Voluntary Social Change Collective Committee/ Board of Trustees
Are you passionate about solving environmental and social issues? Do you want to be part of a growing platform? Do you want to see Wellington thrive with connected communities?
We are looking for two people to join our Social Change Collective (SCC) Committee! SCC is a platform that connects people to environmental and social issues, to facilitate positive change. We run bi-monthly events that attract around 100 attendees. These have ranged from “Homeslessness in Wellington”, to “Freshwater Reform” to “Women in the Workplace”.
After each event, we encourage people to take action in their local community by promoting volunteering opportunities, governance positions and engagement platforms e.g. writing submissions or signing petitions. We have partnered with the Wellington City Council and want to ensure our city is thriving.
We are specifically looking for one ‘Event Manager’ and one ‘Community Co-ordinator’.
The Event Manager will be responsible for organising one event each year on a social or environmental issue of their choice. This usually involves around two months of preparation followed by one month of follow-through on the monitoring of actions. The Event Manager will have a buddy to assist.
The Community Co-ordinator will join the other two Trustees and will be responsible for ensuring the Collective is meeting the needs of the Wellington community and connecting with like-minded organisations. The Co-ordinator will also have responsibility for managing relationships with the three-member Advisory Board.
As one of our priorities this year is to promote young people in governance positions, we are particularly interested in applicants in the 20 – 30 age bracket. By joining our Committee, you will be expected to:
– Attend Committee meetings (around three a year);
– Attend and help out with Events (bi-monthly);
– Promote the work of the Social Change Collective;
– Engage with your crowds to expand our audiences; and
– Promote a tikanga Māori perspective through your event and/ or role.
