Full-Time Programmes Manager

Based out of our Auckland office, we are looking for an experienced Programmes Manager to lead our core ‘Operations and Delivery’ workstreams. The Programmes Manager will have two core focuses, both of which are outlined in detail in the Job description here:
– Implementation and ‘on-the-ground’ operational management for the charity’s new ‘Litter Project’, involving regular travel around New Zealand.
– Logistical, operational and fundraising management for Sustainable Coastlines’ core charitable activities, allowing us to effectively deliver on our purpose and meet our organisational goals.
You will be in charge of the effective planning, implementation and development of our grassroots activities; Beach clean-ups, tree planting activities, school education sessions, ambassador training and support, and monitoring and evaluation of programmes. The role is central to the ‘on-the-ground’ delivery of our charitable purpose.
With a couple of direct reports, experience in staff management and volunteers will be crucial alongside a proven ability to effectively engage and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders.
Good presentation, public speaking and training/facilitation skills will be key for this role; you will deliver educational activities and workshops to a wide range of audiences including school students, teachers, community groups and businesses.
A big focus of your role will be working on a new nationwide project (‘The Litter Project’) to trial, refine and deliver litter data collection, litter education and community engagement activities around Aotearoa. As such, your work location will be very flexible; while you will be based at our Auckland office, you will regularly travel around the country, sometimes for weeks at a time.
You will be working closely with and under our General Manager. You will need to show initiative, have proven management and fundraising skills, be a problem-solver and have an eye for detail. We need a quick learner with a solid work ethic, and a ‘can-do’ attitude; someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty.
