    Pacific Business Development Director

    UniServices is a wholly owned company of the University of Auckland. We were established in 1988 and continue to be the kaihono – linking the University researcher community with business, government and communities.

    The Opportunity

    As a key member of the Strategic Growth Leadership team, this exciting and varied role, will see you working to foster enduring and mutually beneficial relationships between Pacific communities, governments and businesses and the innovative University research teams and the University-based companies that provide research-informed services to the community.

    Key Responsibilities

    You will support the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of Pacific people and places through the development and implementation of a University of Auckland (UoA) connected Pacific Strategy. Using your proven knowledge, experience and expertise in working with and for Pacific peoples and places, you will bring together in mutually beneficial ways the creative minds from Pacific communities, businesses and government agencies with the deep expertise that sits within University of Auckland and wider research ecosystem.

    You will also lead a small team of business development managers to help implement agreed strategic priorities for five UoA faculties known internally as the CABLE faculties (Creative Arts & Industries, Arts, Business, Law and Education & Social Work faculties)

    At a minimum, you will have:

    • strong and varied experience working with and for Pacific peoples in culturally appropriate ways,
    • proven expertise in developing robust business strategies with and for Pacific people and places
    • established networks with Pacific communities and organisations,
    • strong business development experience and know how research and innovation can create value,
    • highly developed diplomacy and interpersonal skills
    • demonstrated ability to bring teams and groups together,
    • knowledge of how to access funding to support and grow research programmes,
