Kaiwhakahaere Te Aho Tū Roa
He tūranga whakahaere tēnei mō te kaupapa o Te Aho Tū Roa. He kaupapa kōmiri i nga aho “tūhono tātou ki a tātou, tātou ki a rātou (ngā atua, me ngā mātua, tūpuna, kua wehe atu ki te pō), tātou ki taiao e”. Ko ngā kaiwhiri o tēnei aho, kei ngā kōhanga/ puna reo, kei ngā kura/ wharekura Māori, kei ngā marae, kei ngā hapori/ whaitua hoki. Ko Te Reo Māori te reo kawe i ngā mahi. Mā tēnei tūranga e pupuri i ēnei tini aho, e whakawhanake i te kaupapa nei, e hāpai i te rōpū kaimahi, arā, te Kāhui o Te Aho Tū Roa.
Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi tangata e ngākau nui ana ki Te Reo Māori, ki te Ao Māori, ki te mātauranga/ ako, me ngā āhuatanga e tika ana ‘kia toitū te ao’. Nō reira, he mea nui tō matatau ki Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
Ko Te Aho Tū Roa he kaupapa kawe ngātahi e Toimata Foundation me Te Mauri Tau – ‘ko koe ki tēnā, ko au ki tēnei kiwai o te kete’. Kei Kirikiriroa, kei Whāingaroa (Raglan) hoki ngā tari mō tēnei tūranga, ā, he wāhanga anō hoki o tēnei mahi kei ngā whaitua o tēnei whenua. He tūranga wākīkī tēnei tūranga.

Kaiwhakahaere Te Aho Tū Roa
We are looking for a Kaiwhakahaere for Te Aho Tū Roa who will lead and support a team working with our kaupapa throughout the country. This is an exciting opportunity for a person who is passionate about continuing to develop an intergenerational network inspired and supported to connect: “People to People, People to Place” by weaving current actions with ancestral knowledge and practices.
Te Aho Tū Roa is a Māori-immersion kaupapa that is held by Toimata Foundation in partnership with Te Mauri Tau. It is a community-wide kaupapa working with Kōhanga Reo, Puna Reo, Kura Kaupapa Māori, Kura Māori, Wharekura, marae, Māori organisations and businesses, kaumātua – wherever there are reo Māori speakers.
Te Aho Tū Roa embraces Maori culture and wisdoms to strengthen these connections. “Kia whai hononga – tātou ki a tātou, tātou ki a rātou, tātou ki taiao e!”
Fluency in Te Reo Māori is required for this position.
The successful candidate will be passionate about the environment and its sustainability for future generations, and committed to modelling practices consistent with this kaupapa.
This is a full-time position. The place of work will be at our offices in Kirikiriroa (Hamilton) and Whāingaroa (Raglan); the mahi will also involve travel to other whaitua.
Skills and experience
• Advanced fluency in Te Reo Māori me ōnā tikanga
• Strong networks within Te Ao Māori
• Passion and commitment to the environment
• Some experience in project development/ research
• An ability to self-manage as well as lead and support a creative and geographically dispersed team
• Strong time management skills and workload planning
• An effective communicator, strategic thinker, and facilitator, with the ability to bring people together
• An openness to learning new skills with a flexible and agile approach to undertake a range of tasks
• Excellent written communication skills
• Computer skills i.e. word, internet & excel
• Full driver’s license
