Auckland based (preferred location, but will consider outside of Auckland)

Te tūnga | The role   

This role will be reporting to the Specialist Support Manager. You will also work very closely with the Collection Operations HSW Team as well as our Team Leader HSW at Corporate level to ensure consistency with policies, procedures, and alignment of our techniques. Your primary goal will be to implement HSW solutions, procedures, and processes. You will also be responsible for providing expert advice and support to the wider Collection Operations team on HSW.

This role has a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor direct report. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Exercising a range of HSW practitioner skills and expertise to provide HSW support to the large-scale operational workforce and creating a proactive and responsive HSW culture
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of effective intervention strategies to deal with significant field-based health, safety and wellbeing issues
  • Providing expert advice and support to the Collection Operations and specifically Data Collection Teams
  • Developing joint HSW processes and procedures in collaboration with suppliers
  • Test developed processes and provided operational support
  • People leadership responsibility

You’ll apply your working knowledge of HSW related systems and processes while working autonomously researching to fill in the gaps when required. We encourage and consider transferable skills and experience gained from outside of work in a different sector or industry.  

We want to see the following in your cover letter and CV any information relating to:

  • HSW related tertiary degree/diploma
  • 4- 6 years’ experience and confidence to provide robust advice and practice in Health Safety and Wellbeing related legislation.
  • Proven experience building, managing and delivering results through relationships (internal and external), networking, and connecting across a range of levels and functions
  • Advanced communication skills (both written and verbal), able to professionally present sometimes complex information to a range of audiences through a range of mediums, up to and including Public Service reporting
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation of work groups/committees, focus groups and workshops
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS)
  • Knowledge and experience, or desire to learn and build knowledge and experience of TeTiriti, Tikanga, TeReo and TeAo Māori, and engagement with Māori.
