 Fundraising Assistant – Fundraising and Reputation Team

The Fundraising and Reputation team supports the work of the Mission  through raising the profile of the organisation and the social issues we support, while generating income to fund our work. 

Job Purpose

This full-time role supports the fundraising activity of the Auckland City Mission, the work is varied, the main focus is to provide assistance to the wider Fundraising team with an emphasis on community fundraising, while ensuring that all fundraising opportunities are maximised and our supporters receive top class service.  The role is integral in ensuring the people and groups supporting the Auckland City  Mission are well cared for.  There is opportunity to grow your understanding and learn about the different aspects of charity fundraising, event organising and communications while  making a meaningful difference for Aucklanders in desperate need.

Your key responsibilities are

  • Community fundraising support, supporting individuals, companies and groups fundraising for the Mission through events such as concerts, quiz nights and fetes or physical challenge
  • Event organisation, providing logistical support for fundraising or thank you events organised by the Fundraising and Reputation team such as confirming venues, catering and guest list, and take the lead on logistics for some events
  • Peer to peer event support for events like the Auckland Marathon, help to keep Mission participants informed and inspired, celebrating their successes
  • Food drive organisation and provide logistical support for Mission food and goods drives, such as coordinating collateral, responding to queries and volunteers
  • Street Appeal organisation, in years that the Mission holds a street appeal, or one is held on our behalf, this role will provide logistical support such as a) coordinating collateral, responding to queries and volunteers, b) confirming collection points with Council and other property owners and c) support with organising ordering, distribution and collection of collateral  
  • Team support, taking sole care of the [email protected] inbox and related phone calls, responding to messages and enquiries in a timely manner

  • Has great customer relationship skills, inter-personal and communication (written and oral) skills   in a multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent team building, collaboration and partnering skills, with an aptitude for getting things done through both formal and informal channels
  • Ability to pay clear attention to detail and produce accurate  information, including data entry
  • Excellent editing and proofing skills and robust knowledge of Office packages
  • Displays good use of initiative and willingness to learn
  • Is committed to embodying the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in  organisational practice
  • Strong ability to build rapport, build and maintain relationships
  • Has the ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to solve problems and  be resourceful
  • Reputation for personal  integrity and reliability

  • Can empathise and understand issues of trauma, mental health,  addiction, poverty and homelessness 
  • Has an appreciation of the multi-cultural nature of both New Zealand and   staff, volunteers and clients of the Auckland City Mission

  • Is double vaxed and boosted
