About the organisation

Community Connections is a community-based support provider that truly tries to add value to people with a lived experience of disability. We support each person to plan for their good life outcomes within a citizenship rights framework. Support is tailor-made for each person with a focus on facilitating sustainable natural networks so that people have the support necessary to enable them to live in their own home, to connect with their community and to enjoy a fulfilling life.

Employment Connections is the branch of Community Connections that offers support to job-seekers, school leavers, their families/whanau and employers to help break down barriers to employment for disabled people and people with long-term mental or physical health barriers.

Employment Connections is seeking to fill a permanent full time role based in Wellington, you will work with our dynamic and experienced Employment team, using your local knowledge to build your role and develop your own workload and networks. You will be working alongside individuals and multiple teams holistically to:

  • support people to seek, find and maintain employment
  • empower and enhance the mana of the people we support through genuine respect and practice of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
  • be an educated advocate for supported employment.

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate will

  • be a people person, able to build trusting and respectful relationships between people we support and their whānau
  • have experience in supporting people with disabilities and health conditions with their employment journey
  • be highly motivated to work creatively and be solution focused
  • have good community knowledge and be able to develop strong networks
