NZEI Te Riu Roa is the dynamic and innovative union representing the professional and industrial interests of 47,000 primary and early childhood teachers, specialist education and advisory staff, early childhood, and school support staff. We are committed to providing high quality education and are focused on protecting and promoting the industrial and professional interests of our members.

We are looking for an ECE strategic lead, who will have the responsibility of working with the wider NZEI ECE team to develop and implement growth strategies, oversee employer, and sector relationships and ensure the ongoing development of member leaders (particularly of national-level leaders and negotiation teams). You will also lead the design and implementation of campaigns in the sector, based on engagement with and analysis of, market, political, industrial, professional and education system issues.

The role requires forming and leading highly effective staff teams with the appropriate capacity and capability required to support NZEI Te Riu Roa’s core work and strategic priorities.  The role provides leadership, guidance, support, and direction to staff involved in core work and project teams, including work prioritisation, professional learning and capacity building and ensuring staff are motivated and on task, and can deliver agreed outcomes and outputs.
