Job Description

Do you have a passion for removing barriers to healthcare and social support for young people, and are interested in governance?

Evolve are looking for two new board members to join us in 2022. There is a particular need at present for clinical board members and board members with youth development or policy backgrounds.

All board roles are unpaid, but in return you will get an awesome opportunity to create meaningful change in a not-for-profit that does awesome work with young people (and kai at our monthly hui!)

Board meetings are held in the evening of the fourth Thursday of every month at our Cuba Street location. Board members can expect to work 8-10 hours per month, but more hours will occasionally be required.

Key duties for the board role include:

  • Setting the strategic direction of Evolve
  • Overseeing appropriate policies and procedures to ensure Evolve’s continued good governance
  • Playing a part in Evolve consensus-based governance decision making
  • Ensuring Evolve’s values are upheld.

Board members sit on 1-2 specialist subcommittees in the following areas:

  • Management and leadership
  • Risk and health & safety
  • Youth Advisory Group engagement
  • Policy and accreditation
  • Strategic finance
  • Premises
  • Clinical governance

Our trust deed provides that a minimum of five of our Board members must be aged under 30. We are particularly keen to hear from young people aged under 30 who would like to get experience on a governance board. In return we can offer a welcoming environment with development from experienced board members.

As always, we are seeking board members with diverse lived experiences – such as those who are LGBTQI+, refugees, Māori, Pasifika, or our homeless whānau.

Evolve commits to upholding te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles and a working knowledge of te Tiriti is highly desirable, but training will be provided.
