– We are looking for 2 Board Members to join our team!

Helen Lowry Hall is a unique private Hall of Residence based in Karori in Wellington, providing accommodation services to students undertaking tertiary education in Wellington. Focusing primarily on first year students, Helen Lowry Hall provides a Home away from Home for students in an environment that is diverse, responsive and inclusive.

Helen Lowry Hall is a small Hall of Residence, providing residence for approximately 110 residents throughout the academic year. The Hall is managed by a small team that is focused on providing high quality care and support for our residents. Helen Lowry Hall has the lowest ratio of Staff to Residents within the Halls of Residence in Wellington in order to make sure we can provide the best support for our residents.

Helen Lowry Hall Board is seeking 2 Board Members to join our small responsive Board, and provide oversight and direction to the Hall Leadership team. As a Board we are going through some interesting challenges as we look to our future, and this is an opportunity for you to join the team and help further build the direction of the Hall.

We are looking for anyone who understands the education sector, our young people and have skills that can compliment our other Board Members – diversity of thought helps with our discussions and ensures we have a considered approach. In addition if you have skills in property, law or finance these would be helpful additions to our skilled team. Previous governance experience while helpful, is not required for this role.

These positions require active participation in our monthly board meetings, and other sub committee meetings/activity to support our board actions. (Approximately 2-4 hours per month).
