About Us

Tertiary Education Commission/Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a crown agency. We are the Government’s key agency for investing in tertiary education, training and careers services.

International research shows that children form aspirations for their future and have unconscious biases from as young as seven. Those aspirations and biases are linked with their outcomes later in life.

Inspiring the Future, a free programme for primary and intermediate schools, was created to broaden young people’s horizons and help challenge stereotypes that can limit their potential.

Using storytelling and connecting directly to children, these events can be life-changing.

With both in-person or online events run in schools, students connect with volunteer role models and learn about their jobs and their journey to get there. This helps children’s imagine a future they might never have considered!
