Community Living, support people living with an intellectual disability within our society, and work in partnership with these people to enable them to have a voice. We support them to make decisions in their own lives and help them to achieve their dreams. We continuously strive to be leaders in our sector and we work with communities to help them become more inclusive and collaborative. Our inspirational dream is therefore a pivotal point in all decision making within our organisation – People with intellectual disabilities living their dreams through community connections.
We are a not for profit organisation with many years of experience successfully working in the disability sector. Since our inception in 1989, we have continued to grow in mana (strength) and to provide best practice services to people with intellectual disabilities. Based in Hamilton, we work with communities throughout the middle of the north island including the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki. Part of being an evolving organisation means we are constantly seeking innovative ways to enable us to meet and exceed the needs of the people we support.
Community Living employs more than 380 people in various roles to ensure we offer the best support possible, we encourage our staff to upskill and be creative thinkers in the ever-changing world we live in. We work in partnership with the people we support, their whanau/families and the broader community to facilitate each person living a life of their choice. We encourage our people to dream big and work collectively to support them to reach personal milestones which will create their own life journey. – Live the dream tell the story.
We envision a society where people with intellectual disabilities live fulfilling lives and are given full citizenship rights, like any other person. We work towards this with passion, innovation, collaboration and in an ethical and responsive way. – Together making a difference in people’s lives
