Role description:
The purpose of the position of Writer & Storyteller is to work with reports, texts and shared stories produced by the Programmes Team members and staff of partner organisations and edit or extensively re-work the style and structure of these texts and stories to meet objectives or requirements that will vary from one audience to another.
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop effective working relationships with other staff, partners, resource team, etc.
- Craft content for various end-users and report-recipients on agreed deadlines
- Develop a detailed annual workplan to be approved by the Head of Programmes
- Present periodic reports according to an agreed workplan and complete high quality, proofed content in a timely manner
- Produce collaborative content in agreement with co-authors across the He Oranga Taurikura Programmes and the Engagement team in terms of content, style, and timeliness (e.g., content for social media, donor documentation etc.)
- Work across the 3 teams to enhance Programme effectiveness & connection with the multiple audiences and stakeholders.
This role will suit someone with all or some following background / experience / qualities:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Development Studies, Communications, or related field
- Writing background in international & community development, or humanitarian fields
- Proficient with relevant information technology
- Able to travel nationally/globally
- Can provide evidence of written reports meeting deadlines
- Committed to the client’s values/mission and to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi

They work in partnership and solidarity with communities throughout the world to promote human dignity and the common good. They also promote advocacy and education for justice in NZ and overseas, and play an integral part in their worldwide network of 162 Catholic relief, development, and social service organisations. The NZ branch is made up of 21 staff, comprising three teams, Programmes, Engagement and Resource.
