Board position Trustees
Trade Aid is a social enterprise with retail stores nationwide and a vision to trade fair and spread the word to Kiwis. We’ve got a lot going on in Wellington, we sell organic food items, quality linen, the latest in crockery, and a whole host of other products. We run educational programmes, and show case Trade Aid at local events. We’re passionate about conducting fair trade with our trading partners all around the world. If this sounds like something you want to get involved with – get in touch. We are looking for people to join our Wellington Board of Trustees.
The ideal applicant will have an understanding of governance, social justice issues and/or have general business or charity experience. The Trustee role requires someone to contribute to the governance of the organization, including assist in setting the strategic direction, assess and approve annual budgets, endorse key organisational policies and actively participate in discussions and issues that affect the Movement.
In particular we are looking for people with experience in education, event management, promotions, support of volunteers, secretarial and/or strategy. We are particularly interested in Trustees with diverse skills, backgrounds and experiences – if you have something unique to add, get in touch.
Our monthly meeting is for two hours on the last Tuesday of each month. The Trust and the Shop Manager normally communicate via email as matters arise which need their attention.
Members are required to prepare for Board meetings by reading the minutes, agenda, and other relevant papers circulated before a Board meeting
Trust members are generally expected to take an active interest in other Trade Events events and subcommittees, which can involve several extra hours a month – depending on your capacity, and where your interests and expertise lie.
We are looking for a long term commitment of at least 3 years.
