Full-Time TESOL Adviser – Papua New Guinea

Inspire others and help enhance English language education at Vunabosco Agro Technical Secondary School (VATSS).
VATSS is proud to be an inclusive secondary school offering a second chance to over 500 day and boarding students unable to attend other schools. The quality of English language education in Papua New Guinea has been in decline for some years, resulting in a new competency test for new teachers being introduced. VATSS need a motivated volunteer to help improve its English language teaching and learning programme and support teachers to improve student’s proficiency in the English language.
As a volunteer TESOL Adviser you will report to the Head of Language and VATSS school Principal, working with staff to review English language teaching practices, helping improve instructional materials or resources and delivery strategies. You will also mentor teaching staff to instruct and support trainee teachers to improve in their coursework. To ensure the lasting success of your assignment you will also work with the diverse staff and students to develop and implement a continuous improvement process.
Your ability to relate well to people from all walks of life, coupled with your excellent communications skills, patience and understanding will help you succeed in this role.
For this assignment we are seeking a volunteer with:
– Relevant qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
– At least two years’ experience teaching English to speakers of other languages
– Ability to provide mentoring and coaching support to colleagues
– Ability to review, recommend and monitor improvements to teaching processes and practices
– This is a 1-year assignment based in Papua New Guinea
