Full-Time Reuse Specialist

Job Description
Full-time (Fix term contract)
Reuse specialist
Do you hate throwing things out when they’re still useful? Do you enjoy making
things last longer and keeping them out of landfill?
Would you like to be paid to do it?
If you love people and hate waste, this role is made for you. Working for the Zero
Waste Network, you’ll become one of our new Reuse Specialists on our Inorganic
collection crews.
Every day you’ll be making practical decisions about what can be saved and reused;
keeping stuff in use and reducing waste to landfill.
You’ll be part of a small team working together, so you’ll be a team-player with a
good sense of humour.
You’ll enjoy being out in the community and being physically active every day. Some
lifting to help other team-members is required.
You’ll also get a buzz off helping people as all the things you save from landfill will be
redistributed free back into the community.
This is a brand-new role, which will put you at the front of the transition to the
Circular Economy. Full training is given so it could suit many people, from
sustainability graduates to ex-tradies looking for a change. What matters most is
your commitment to keeping stuff out of landfill and your ability to be part of a team.
Start date: April 2021. Full-time fix term contract until Dec 2021 (with opportunity to
extend)
The Zero Waste Network is a not-for-profit umbrella organisation which represents
community enterprises who are working for zero waste across New Zealand.
This role is part of a ground-breaking pilot venture between Zero Waste Network and
Waste Management Limited to reuse more materials collected from the Auckland
Council Inorganic Collection system.
