VACANCY FOR RETAIL SECTOR ORGANISER – Christchurch

Applications are invited for the position of a full-time organiser for FIRST Union, based in Christchurch and working in the Retail sector.

We invite both internal and external applicants.

The geographical area for organising is the Christchurch and Rolleston areas.

The objective of this position is to deliver excellent outcomes for members by way of advocacy, servicing and campaigning. The successful applicant will be able to develop and maintain a high level of union member engagement and activity, effective delegates, be able to negotiate employment agreements, and solve employment related problems.

The successful applicant will have good one-to-one and group communication skills and have a strong commitment to giving workers the opportunity to be part of a union. Experience as a union delegate, union organiser, and/or an activist in community campaigns is desirable. Applicants must have a strong commitment to the trade union movement.
