Full-Time Receptionist/Office Assistant

Our team is committed to providing a professional service and care to our community. We require a Receptionist/Office Assistant to be the ‘face’ of The Salvation Army and to work with clients and families from our diverse community here in Porirua.

Purpose of the role

This position offers the opportunity to make a significant difference in our community and is integral to The Salvation Army Porirua in fulfilling its mission by providing hospitality and efficient administration.

Key tasks include:
•warmly greeting and engaging with everyone one comes through our doors
•handling all initial enquiries (in person, by phone) with warmth, compassion and professionalism
•undertaking administration tasks to ensure the smooth running of the centre.

This permanent position is for 37.5 hours per week.

The successful applicant will have the following attributes:
•Able to provide a warm, welcoming presence on the front desk
•Has effective time management, administrative and office skills in order to prioritise multiple tasks, keep track of work in progress and meet deadlines
•Can relate to and empathise with people from a diverse range of backgrounds
•Able to identify with the mission and values of The Salvation Army
•Can work positively within a team
•Skilled in verbal and written communication
•Has respect for confidentiality and privacy
•Has initiative and self-motivation
•Trustworthy and reliable
•Advanced user of MS Office suite
•Full driver’s licence
