Part-Time Programme Coordinator
Bike Auckland is the non-profit organisation working for a better city for people on bikes. As the independent voice for cycling in Auckland, we lead the push for positive change, on behalf of everyone who rides a bike in our city – and everyone who would love to give it a go. Bike Auckland advocates for a better city on bikes, advises on best practice design and activates a diverse and joyful community of people on bikes. Join our activation team to coordinate two of our core programmes.
We are seeking an energetic, organised, and connected bike enthusiast to manage the Volunteer Programme and the Bike Valet Programme. We are a small and agile team committed to providing a strong voice for people on bikes in Auckland. The role is part time (up to 15 hours a week), with flexible location options within Auckland. Reporting to the Executive Team, your role will be to grow, develop and ensure the success of these two work programmes.
This position coordinates the Volunteer Programme and the Bike Valet Parking Programme. Responsibilities will include:
Working with the Executive Team to develop an annual plan for the Volunteer programme
Building and nurturing a community of volunteers, including outreach for recruiting new volunteers, and surveying existing volunteers to inform the direction of the programme
Finding and creating opportunities for our volunteers to get involved with Bike Auckland
Monitoring volunteer sign-up emails and ensuring communication with our volunteers
Growing the number of volunteers in the programme
Bike Valet Parking
Working with the Executive Team to develop an annual plan for the Bike Valet Programme
Representing Bike Auckland and promoting the Bike Valet service to key stakeholders and event organisers
Developing a calendar of events for Valet Bike Parking
Managing budgets and coordinating staff and volunteers to work at events
Maintaining the necessary resources to deliver the Bike Valet service (managing inventory of event kit and storage unit)
Values and Experience you’ll ideally bring to the role:
A commitment to making Auckland a better place for people on bikes
Previous experience managing community groups/ volunteers/ online communities/ recruitment or equivalent
Existing community connections and networks would be an advantage
Highly organised, with excellent skills in administration, communication, and coordination, and the ability to work to tight deadlines within our fast-paced environment
A good sense of humour and flexibility – we make plans, but we react fast when opportunity presents itself
Team player – you build strong and effective relationships within the community, with our key stakeholders and with our team
A can-do attitude and self starter with the skills to take these programmes and run with them
