Marketing Campaign Manager, 2023 Census (Fixed Term – 7 months)

Te tūnga | The role

This role is fixed term for 7 months based in Wellington or Christchurch reporting to the Director Census Communications and Marketing. The next Census of Population and Dwellings will take place in March 2023 and requires a high impact, highly engagement marketing campaign to connect with everyone in New Zealand on Census Day.

You will be the project lead for the marketing campaign and implementing digital marketing, social media, content, and advertising across multiple channels to build awareness and understanding, trust and confidence and ultimately to gain commitment to participate in the 2023 Census. You will build awareness of the 2023 Census with a goal to influence as many people as possible to complete their census forms and work closely with community engagement and field operations to motivate, influence and support those who need assistance to take part. You’ll lead a small team of specialists in stakeholder and marketing communications, digital channels, social media, translated and alternate formats and work with our agency partners to deliver the campaign and support activities. With a focus on reaching everyone in New Zealand, the campaign will deliver targeted campaigns to priority groups and key audiences across the motu.


Nōu te rourou | What you bring

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate proven experience in successfully delivering integrated marketing campaigns based on a clear creative direction and campaign management processes across digital, social, and media channels. You will have worked with, or for, creative and advertising agencies to develop and approve production of campaign materials (photography, adverts, video media etc) as well as integrated media campaigns. With expert level attention to detail and planning, you will ensure campaigns are delivered on schedule and to the brief. You will be a ‘hands on’ manager, able to get things done and deliver marketing activity while you build your team. And you will be an exceptional communicator, who is able to gain the confidence of stakeholders and work effectively with them.
