Voluntary Policy Adviser (Sport and Physical Activity) – Cook Islands

The Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee (CISNOC) is the governing body for sports throughout the Cook Islands. The organisation is currently going through a transition phase and is looking to re-align itself with its vision and mission and the national Sustainable Development Goals.
CISNOC has been challenged to lead the way in developing an action plan to address the growing issue of physical inactivity in the Cook Islands which is a significant contributor to the high rates of non-communicable diseases.
In this assignment you will work alongside CISNOC staff to develop a policy and planning framework, as well as a National Sports and Physical Activity Policy.
You will be based at the CISNOC office in Nikao, Rarotonga. This is a 10-minute drive from the capital, Avarua, meaning you’ll experience the quiet and tranquillity of nature that comes with being a short distance out of town.
We are looking for a volunteer with:
– A strong background in planning and strategic policy
– Experience developing operational processes
– Stakeholder engagement skills Strong communication, administration and organisational skills
– Experience in training and mentoring
– A strong interest or background in sports
This is a two-year assignment based in the Cook Islands.

VSA is New Zealand’s largest and most experienced volunteering agency working in international development.
We cover living allowances, accommodation and utilities. Travel, visas, insurance and medical costs are organised and funded by VSA.
Volunteers must be a NZ citizen or permanent resident.
