Contract Oxfam Trailwalker Volunteer Coordinator
Want to take that step up in your career with an organisation dedicated to challenging inequality?
At Oxfam, we’re ending the injustice of poverty. For everyone. For good. We work alongside those impacted by disasters, and help them rebuild afterwards. We confront the causes that keep people poor, like extreme inequality, discrimination against women, climate change, and the eviction of people from their land. We work alongside people living in less wealthy countries to build better lives for themselves. For Oxfam staff this work gets us out of bed with the certainty that our work day is making a difference.
If you have some volunteer management experience and are looking to develop your career in fundraising & events management then we have your ideal role. This vacancy sits within Oxfam New Zealand’s Events Fundraising team which aims to raise $1 million+ per annum in support of Oxfam’s life giving work. You will be responsible for organising and co-ordinating all aspects of volunteers’ involvement in our award-winning Oxfam Trailwalker (OTW).
You know the qualities we are after – organized, flexible, people focused, IT savvy, a team player with great communication skills. We want it all plus relevant experience! This includes experience or involvement in mass participation events and prior experience of coordinating volunteers. A great sense of humour will also go a long way when the pressure comes on, while a demonstrated commitment to the values and principles of our work is essential.
In return we offer you a unique opportunity to create and achieve event goals not possible elsewhere. You will also be joining a talented events team and an organisation where the “heart” is truly in the work.
Starting on 3rd December 2018, you will be working part time (24 hours per week) throughout the month of December. After the Christmas & New Year’s break you will be working full time (40 hours per week) from January 7th in the lead up to and during the OTW event (23-24 March 2019), finishing on 20th April 2019. The successful candidate will be based in Auckland. The post attracts a starting salary of $52,000 per annum, pro-rata.
