Full-Time Mental Health Nurse

Can you bring significant experience in community mental health with strong assessment and risk management skills? If so, the University of Waikato could be your next career move.
As Mental Health Nurse you will be a key point of contact for students experiencing concerns with their mental health and wellness. You will work individually with students using a solution-focused approach and a range of interventions to develop coping and self-management strategies to support student wellness, retention and success.
Along with expertise in crisis intervention, you will need to bring significant experience working with the unique mental health needs of young people and tertiary students and an understanding of the mental health support framework in New Zealand. To go with that you will be a NZ Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Your ability to utilise contemporary practice models that include psychological therapies and principles such as recovery model, Stepped Care Approach and strengths based practices will assist you to be successful in this role.
You will have the ability to clearly communicate complex information to people and groups with various levels of health literacy.

Our employment setting will involve work with young people and applicants will be required to comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
Salary will be in the range of $69,802 to $80,501 per year, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
