Part-Time Maori Development Manager – Playcentre Aotearoa (National/Home Based role)

Job Description

Playcentre Aotearoa is an organisation that is committed to their mission of Whānau Tupu Ngātahi – Families growing together, and are currently recruiting for a Māori Development Manager. This position will be fundamental in incorporating Te Ao Māori into all aspects of the organisation.

The Māori Development Manager will be responsible for driving a bicultural focus within the organisation, with full support from the Board of Trustees. The role will report directly to the General Manager and will also work closely with six Te Ao Māori Field Workers.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will need to have:

Excellent communication skills (verbal, listening and written)
Experience with social media and how best to leverage this medium
Experience with incorporating bi-cultural and multicultural focus into practice
The ability to work autonomously, and within a wider team
Relationship building skills (internal and external stakeholders)
Knowledge of the not-for-profit/charitable sector
The ability to use te reo Māori and tikanga Māori in every day practice
The ability to look for funding opportunities and to grow funding channels
Skill in strategic thinking and planning
The ability to work in a collaborative and consultative manner
Strong knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Values consistent with Playcentre Aotearoa
Flexibility to be able to travel nationally (on occasion)
Some knowledge of/experience within Playcentre
