The Wellington Timebank is looking for an innovative, empathetic people-person to be the new Kaiwhakahaere/Coordinator. The Wellington Timebank is a community of people who share skills for time, rather than money, building a community of people who participate in this exciting alternative economy. You will be working in an empowering environment, with support from a committed Steering Committee and management. 

The Timebank is in its 11th year and we’re looking for someone who can reinvigorate the community – especially important given the difficulties of Covid – bringing energy, ideas and leadership to achieve greater change in Wellington’s communities. There’s a real opportunity for the new Kaiwhakahaere to bring their own background, skills, networks and interests into this role and make it their own.

Hours and pay: This is a flexible, part-time position, paid at $24.50 per hour. The core funding for this role pays for 25 hours per week. We currently have additional funding to pay for 30 hours per week until the end of 2022. The Timebank functions best with around 30 hours of kaiwhakahaere/coordinator time, so we are looking for someone with capacity to do up to 30 hours, but only 25 can be guaranteed, as the extra hours depend on us securing additional funding going forwards. Work hours will include occasional evenings and weekends.    

Location: The Newtown Community Centre office in Newtown, Wellington. Some work in other locations may be required – likely other community centres.
