Volunteer at Kai Rescue

Do you have a passion for our environment and the local community? Then the Nelson Environment Centre’s – Kai Rescue Programme is looking for you!

The Nelson Environment Centre needs a support people to join the Kai Rescue team in their effort to rescue food that would otherwise go to landfill, and redistribute it to over 50 Nelson charities. The volunteers would be available on Thursday or Friday mornings for 2-3 hours between 08.30 and 11.30 depending on need. Organisation skills and good communication, as well as physical fitness is required.

The team of volunteers collect, sort and pack the rescued food from supermarkets, manufacturers and growers. They share the kai with many groups in the Nelson region that are running support services to help those in our community that are struggling to afford food.
