Voluntary Kai Rescue Volunteer
Do you have a passion for our environment and the local community? Then the Nelson Environment Centre’s – Kai Rescue Programme is looking for you! Join the Kai Rescue team in their effort to rescue food that would otherwise go to landfill, and redistribute it to over 50 Nelson charities.
The Nelson Environment Centre needs one or two volunteer Support Coordinators to join the Kai Rescue team in their effort to rescue food that would otherwise go to landfill, and redistribute it to over 50 Nelson charities. The volunteers would be available on either Tuesday or Wednesday mornings for 2-3 hours between 08.30 and 11.30 depending on need. The team of volunteers collect, sort and pack the rescued food from supermarkets, manufacturers and growers. They share the kai with many groups in the Nelson region that are running support services to help those in our community that are struggling to afford food.
