ABOUT THE ROLE – NGĀ ĀHUATANGA O TE TŪRANGA
This new role has been designed to manage and facilitate relationships with iwi, hapū, marae and Māori to support the development of co-governance and engagement practices. Additionally, our Iwi Engagement Partner will contribute to building the cultural capability of staff and elected members.
From providing policy advice & leading internal bicultural competency workstreams to identifying & developing opportunities to enhance Council’s co-governance objectives, this is a multi-faceted role that will be pivotal to facilitating collaboration with iwi/hapū and the wider community.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR – KEI TE KIMI MĀTOU I TĒNEI MOMO TANGATA
You’ll be experienced working with iwi entities, hapū & Māori with knowledge of Tūwharetoa kawa and tikanga. Ideally you’ll be conversant with local government operations and the various Acts that guide our work. You’ll be a natural relationship facilitator, adept at building engagement and facilitating collaboration between multiple stakeholder groups. We are looking for someone with:
- Exceptional communication skills
- The ability to work professionally even in a high-pressure environment & within tight timeframes
- Presentation skills – both oral & written
- A ‘can-do’ attitude
