Full-Time Health Promotion Nurse/Coordinator
Student Services Division
Do you have a passion for providing transformative support to people who face systemic barriers to accessing equitable health and wellbeing? If so, the University of Waikato is looking for you to start in the new year.
Following recent changes in our Student Health Centre we have a new Health Promotion Coordinator role to form part of the team.
In this role, you will specifically work within the Māori, Pasifika, LGBTQIA and gender-diverse student communities to increase access to health care services. You will engage with key populations to identify barriers to accessing equitable health outcomes and work with individual students to enhance engagement with health screening and promotion.
You will be expected to be proactive in engaging with our student community to develop and maintain key partnerships that will allow students to engage with a variety of health and wellness providers.
Along with significant post-graduate experience in community health, you will have proven success working independently and implementing initiatives to improve population health outcomes. You will also need to have a high degree of cultural competency working with Māori and Pasifika communities as well as experience working with LGBTQIA, takatāpui, fa’afafine and other gender diverse communities.
The ability to clearly communicate complex information to people and groups with various levels of health literacy is essential. To be successful in this role you will need to be comfortable with group and public speaking. A Bachelor of Nursing, Health Science (Health Promotion) or related field is essential.
This role should appeal if you are ready to utilise your expertise where it is highly valued. Students can be in a vulnerable position, and you will be ensuring that their health and wellbeing are well-supported so they can focus on their education and build their futures.
Salary will be in the range of $69,802 to $80,501 per year, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
This role can be shared by two part-time employees. Please indicate in your cover letter if you wish to work part-time.
