Voluntary Group Facilitator
Tranzform is a peer support group for people between the ages of 15-30 who identify as transgender and gender minority, fa’afafine, whakawahine, tangata ira tane, intersex, two-spirits, genderqueer, non-gendered, non-binary and questioning. Tranzform meets fortnightly for discussions, information, food and frivolity. It is a safer space for members to let their glorious selves out and explore their identities.
We are currently seeking new volunteers to help us run our group. Facilitators are integral to Tranzform and help to create a safe environment in which young people can feel comfortable and free to be themselves. They act as role models to help field questions any young people might have, introduce guests speakers to the group, and guide healthy conversations.
Tranzform is one of Wellington’s oldest groups for gender minorities , and our facilitators are a huge part of our history and how we work. We’re on the lookout for volunteers interested in leading groups and who might have an interest in youth/social work, education or policy. Full training will be provided, and volunteers will also have access to a number of workshops organised by OuterSpaces, our parent organisation, throughout the year. Applicants must be ok with going through a police check.
