Part-Time Executive Director
This is an exciting time within the public library sector and we are seeking an Executive Director to lead the implementation of our new strategic direction, develop robust relationships with stakeholders, build our financial base and establish a number of national projects that will significantly impact New Zealand.
We have recently developed a new strategy for public libraries, prioritising our role in fighting illiteracy, advocating for communities and ensuring everyone can access the information they need to fully participate in society. We need a proactive self-starter with excellent organisational and communications skills. You will ideally have experience in successful stakeholder relationship building, marketing and communications, advocacy, contract management, and fundraising.
Public libraries provide opportunities for lifelong learning. We help children and young people develop imagination and creativity, and we give adults the opportunity to learn about technology and how to use it, about their cultural heritage, the arts and science.
Public Libraries of New Zealand, The Association of Public Library Managers, is the peak body for the public library sector. We work with more than 300 public libraries across New Zealand to make sure all of us in New Zealand have access to outstanding libraries that enhance our communities. We lead the debate on the future of public libraries and advocate for the continuous improvement of public libraries to meet the evolving needs of local communities.
Knowledge of, and experience within, the not-for-profit, central or local government, or library and information sectors would be an advantage.
We are open to negotiating the location, hours and employment arrangements with the successful applicant. This is a part time position.
