Be responsible for receiving 111 emergency calls from across the country, managing the callers, and gaining and inputting critical information into the system to allow effective dispatching to occur to our Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic service.

We are currently looking for multiple Emergency Medical Call Takers.  In this role you will be responsible for receiving 111 emergency calls, managing the caller, and gaining and inputting critical information into the system to allow effective dispatching to occur.

The role is shift work, predominantly working two 12 hour days, followed by two 12 hour nights. This pattern takes a large amount of resilience and energy and the ability to follow this is critical to the role.

This role is key to Wellington Free and will work closely with the community as an essential part of the service Wellington Free provides.

You will ensure all calls are answered in compliance with strict time and accuracy standards while being courteous and meeting customer service standards. Customer service is an integral part of this role.

Who we are looking for

You will be someone who gains insight into customer needs, follows through on commitments and relates comfortably with people of different levels, functions, cultures and locations. Managing and handling crises effectively comes naturally to you.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • High computer literacy skills
  • Attention to detail
  • 40 words per min typing speed

Make no mistake, this is a demanding role in a fast paced environment, you will need to ensure you are someone who can remain calm under pressure and is able to multi-task effectively.

It is essential that you are available on Friday 12th August 2022 for a full day Assessment Centre. If you cannot make this commitment, unfortunately we cannot accept your application at this time.
