Part-Time Creative Wellbeing Artworker

Job Description

Ōtautahi Creative Spaces is all about getting creative with mental heath. We support young people and adults with experience of mental distress to make positive change through creativity.

We invite expressions of interest from people interested in joining our small team of artworkers for the following roles:
• Creative Pathways facilitator – building work skills towards employment through creativity (a six months pilot programme)
• on-call relieving for our studio groups

You’ll have a sound understanding of how creativity helps wellbeing, the needs of Takata Whaiora people with experience of mental distress, and strong group facilitation skills.

You’ll be able to provide technical help with art work, demonstrate a range of art forms, and be adept at designing and delivering creativity projects with groups.

You’ll create a space that’s relaxing and safe to be in. You’ll be calm under pressure, able to think on your feet, and confidently handle challenging situations. We need someone who can maintain professional boundaries, and support the wellbeing of participants.

You’ll have a high level of self awareness, and the skills to support people who experience distress. We value initiative, resourcefulness and team work.

Experience with employment pathways, and youth development, would be an advantage. Familiarity with Te Whare Tapa Whā will also strengthen your application, as will experience supporting the wellbeing of Māori and Pasefika communities.
