Contract Community Dance Class Program Feasibility Proposal

Job Description
MAP is looking for a motivated and creatively-minded person to light a fire under the current classes program, to research best practices and delivery of classes, as well as the wider dance needs of the Ōtautahi dance community.
Community dance needs have shifted since our inception, especially over the last 2 years as COVID-19 has altered the creative landscape. This role is a short-term contract whereby you would be responsible for putting together a proposal for how to refresh and run MAP’s classes program, with respect to financial feasibility, administration, teaching and timetable needs, marketing, and community engagement. Finding the gaps and proposing, within MAP’s capacity, to fill those. The proposal would include requirements for delivery, including who would manage this program and how.
MAP’s objectives with respect to the classes program are
- to embed and grow community contemporary dance classes
- develop a workshop program that goes out to communities who need and can not yet access contemporary dance and creative movement
MAP believes in an Aotearoa where contemporary dance and performance is woven into the cultural fabric of our community. MAP runs community dance classes, artist residencies, and workshops and our programs exist to nurture movement artists, develop informed and engaged audiences, and celebrate the art form itself.
