Micro-volunteer Community Champion

The Microvolunteering Collective  Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu/Wanganui, Wellington, Nelson/Tasman, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland

Job Description

The Microvolunteering Collective is a community group dedicated to breaking down the barriers to traditional volunteering, and enabling anyone – regardless of their age, gender, background, or experience, to make a meaningful difference in their community, through bite-sized volunteer tasks, known as ‘microvolunteering’.

With the aim of using micro-moments to create macro-change, we organise events and activities that bring people together, and empower them to use their strengths, skills and creativity as a tool for good (and in doing so, enhance personal and collective wellbeing).

Such events and activities include hand-making postcards and filling them with messages of love for lonely residents in local rest homes, and repurposing old clothing into toys for dogs and cats in the SPCA, for example.

Since our establishment in February 2019, we have brought together 686 microvolunteers, who have contributed 1223 hours of their time towards 18 community causes.

Now, we’re on a mission to turn microvolunteering into a nationwide movement.

And that’s where you come in!

We’re looking for community champions throughout Aotearoa who would be interested in delivering a variety of fun community events that promote microvolunteering and enable more people to come together to do a little good.

This is a flexible and rewarding volunteering opportunity that will allow you to spearhead unique initiatives, and create meaningful change, within your local community, in whatever way suits you.

We’ll provide you with all the resources, guidance and mentorship you need – and it’ll be your job to get out and about in the community – facilitating and delivering events. Ideally, you’ll:

– be passionate about volunteering, your local community, and change-making

– be a people-person with loads of personality, who is skilled at building relationships and creating welcoming environments

– have a love for events, with some experience in planning, delivering and facilitating events/activities for diverse groups of people

– be a creative thinker, willing to bring a fresh perspective to all that you do

Email Chantelle at [email protected] outlining why you’re interested in the role and why you’re a good fit.
