Full-Time Community Activator: Auckland
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Humanitarian Development team as a Community Activator in Auckland.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to support our humanitarian work in Aotearoa by coordinating a key project that helps to strengthen community resilience and disaster readiness throughout Auckland.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the Good and Ready Auckland project which aims to support communities in Auckland to be more prepared in advance of an emergency or natural disaster. Your role will be vital in empowering volunteers, building new relationships and engaging with communities.
This role involves training and mentoring community groups, businesses and individuals in Auckland to be better prepared for emergencies and developing a pool of trained people to assist during times of emergency.
You will be a strong project and relationship manager and will have an understanding and appreciation of community networks in Auckland, volunteer management and stakeholder relationships. This role involves actively coordinating the project and ensuring that implementation is on track to success. You will be a humanitarian at heart and be passionate about making a real difference to communities throughout Auckland.
You will have responsibility for:
Successfully coordinating, monitoring and reporting on the project and ensuring it meets project goals and indicators
Liaising between staff, members, stakeholders and communities
Coordinating and providing support to key volunteers involved in delivering this project
Building relationships with diverse communities throughout Auckland to ensure wide ranging participation
Delivering education workshops to community groups and businesses locally
Working closely with our stakeholders and community partners to ensure alignment and ongoing partnership

Be empathetic, have a strong passion for humanitarian causes and a commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
Demonstrated people skills including good communication with individuals, groups and people from diverse backgrounds
Proven project coordination experience
Personal resilience and self-awareness, with the ability to balance multiple priorities
Be an organised and motivated self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
Experience in working with volunteers and engaging with diverse communities
Experience in scaling up projects
Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications, and a wide range of technology systems/tools

Applicants for this position must be able to legally work in NZ i.e. have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa. This is a full-time permanent role (37.5 hours per week).
