Part-Time Clown Doctor
Have you got what it takes to be a clown doctor?
Clown Doctors New Zealand is looking to expand its Christchurch team and are holding auditions on Saturday, September 14th at WindsorCare from 1-5 p.m.
We are looking for people with performance experience. Those special people with an openness and spontaneity, a willingness to play and those who possess a certain sensitivity.
Our fundamental approach to clowning for clown doctors is based on the Lecoq model which aims to meld the various traditions of clowning (and related comedic styles – commedia/fool/vaudeville/circus/mime etc) with the individual’s idiosyncratic personality to create a unique ‘clown’.
Clown doctors use the ethos of clowning – vulnerability, a desire to be loved, forgetfulness, clumsiness and playfulness – to shortcut ‘normal’ human interactions, break down barriers and offer immediate and unconditional friendship, love and support in a safe environment.
If you join our team we will provide ongoing training to help you further develop your ‘clown’ and clowning skills but because of funding constraints we also expect you pursue other available training opportunities yourself.
This is a part-time, paid position and is remunerated according to experience and number of clown doctor shifts worked.
At present we are mainly working with the elderly and once the team has expanded we will be returning to our work with children as well.
If you are interested and believe you have the qualities we are looking for please send you CV to [email protected] along with any further questions you may have.
