Voluntary Campground Volunteer
Positions are for our next summer season. From Dec 2018 – April 2019. Minimum of 2 weeks at a time.
Ideal for individuals, couples and families wanting a summer conservation experience. Full campsite provided. Volunteers will be required to be available for three hours per day (per adult).
We have 5 lovely campgrounds in the Northern Coromandel with Opportunities –
Waikawau Bay, Stony Bay, Fletcher Bay, Port Jackson and Fantail Bay. Please let us know if you have a preference.
Your duties and responsibilities may include:
•helping visitors enjoy their stay
•assisting the camp managers/rangers in the office
•answering phone enquiries
•providing general information to campers
•assisting in cleaning ablution facilities
•basic maintenance duties including lawn mowing.
Training: Full training and induction will be provided, however applicants need to have the following attributes:
•able to relate to a range of people in a friendly manner
•mature, sensible and have a good attitude
•basic computer skills
•fluent in English and have a practical outlook.
Accommodation: Camp volunteers will need to be self-sufficient, preferably in a motorhome or caravan. There is power available for motorhomes/caravans with current Electrical Warrant Of Fitness. Freezer space is available in the DOC office for volunteers.
Induction: At the induction, a DOC ranger will ensure you know your role, issue you with the necessary equipment and make sure you have read, understood and signed any health and safety information.
If you are selected you will be given more information about what to bring closer to the time.

•full training and support
•Department of Conservation camp volunteer identification.
Volunteer positions are for a minimum of two weeks, but longer periods of volunteering are welcome.
