Do Good Live: A Living Wage + the Do-Good sector
An hourly wage of $22.10 is the current Living Wage rate for a worker in Aotearoa to meet their basic needs. Hitting this rate would be a big step towards reducing poverty and inequality which continues to hold back so many Kiwi workers, their families, and our economy.
In this Do Good Live Chat, Julia is talking with Gina Lockyer and Felicia Scherrer (Living Wage Aotearoa New Zealand) during Living Wage Week (8 -16 November) to find out more about the Living Wage movement.
We’ll explore:
√ What the Living Wage is and why it should be part of your organisation’s strategy
√ Why the do-good sector MUST champion this for both the people in our own organisations and those our causes often support
√ The specific challenges faced by the do-good sector in implementing a Living Wage
√ What it means to be a Living Wage organisation and how to get accredited
And more!
